Meditation For Stillness
From Jenn Collotta
An in-depth look into practice
Come rest in this 20-minute meditation for stillness.
Close your eyes and become aware of your surroundings; hear what you hear, feel what you feel. With awareness, arrive into the present. Let your body become completely still.
Drop in deeper now to feel the rhythm of your heartbeat and listen to the subtle movement of your breath. Release judgment and simply become an observer of your experience. Allow calm to wash over you, breath after breath, beat after beat.
Notice any movement within your mind. How often do our thoughts race without conscious control? Soften attachment to the chaos of your thinking mind. Sink past the story and connect to your inherent stillness. Imagine your mind like the waves of the ocean, there is a calm just below the surface. Float here.
The intention of today’s meditation is to give you a place to experience true stillness, in body, mind and spirit. It begins with awareness, evolves into observation and rests in surrender. Carry these feelings of tranquility and relaxation with you into the moments of your life that will require your patience. You have the tools to detach from unconscious reaction and choose to move forward from a more centered and still state of being.
